The Contract for the Purchase of Four Shunting Locomotives Signed

The director of SŽ–Tovorni promet, d. o. o., M.Sc. Melita Rozman Dacar, has today signed the contract for the purchase of four shunting locomotives, which will enable the company to enhance its competitiveness on the demanding transport market and provide better services. The new locomotives are also more environment-friendly and they cause less noise.

The signing of the contract for the purchase of four shunting locomotives (Effishunter 1000) by the manufacturer CZ Loko is part of the fleet modernisation of SŽ-Tovorni promet. The new locomotives are by 24% more powerful, less noisy and they conform to the most up-to-date environment standards. The costs of their maintenance will be significantly lower, the reliability will be improved, and the fuel consumption will be lower..

Technical specification of the Effishunter 1000 shunting locomotive
It is a four-axle dieselelectric locomotives with two bogies and two axles. Its power is 895 kW, top speed of 100 km/h, traction force 267 kN, the mass 80 tons. The motor (C32) made by Caterpiller conforms to the EURO Stage IIIB standards. This means less operating noise, lower consumption and lower emissions.

SŽ-Tovorni promet country-wide uses 37 shunting locomotives. They are used for forming of trains, the delivery and dispatch of wagons with customers, and also for hauling lighter trains on some stretches.

The acquisition of four shunting locomotives is part of a gradual comprehensive modernisation of the fleet of SŽ-Tovorni promet. In 2017 and 2018 we purchased 100 modern Sggrrs series wagons for ore transports. Compared to older wagons, they can be loaded by 20% more cargo, which means better utilisation and enhance quality for the customers.

SŽ-Tovorni promet is planning the acquisition of further 20 modern and powerful electric locomotives until 2015, as well as of 400 cargo wagons. At the same time, the modernisation (remotorisation) of the existing shunting locomotives is already underway. Until 2012, twelve locomotives will be completely renovated.

The company SŽ-Tovorni promet, which per year transports around 21 million tonnes of cargo, will use the four new shunting locomotives at the Koper freight station. This it the most important freight station of the Slovenian railway network. Up to 1,200 wagons a day are loaded and unloaded in Koper. The reliability and  timely performance of services are thus exceptionally important for all the participants in the logistics process.

The new shunting locomotives will enable SŽ-Tovorni promet to enhance its competitiveness and the quality of services on the highly competitive transport market. At the same time, they will be an important step forward in complying with the ever-more demanding environment protection regulation.
