General conditions

Purchasing tickets

We offer different types of tickets- tickets for individual or group travels, return tickets, monthly passes, multiple ride tickets, annual and 6-month passes. Tickets may be purchased up to two months in advance; season tickets (annual, 6-months and weeky passes) can be purchased seven days in advance. If there is no ticket sales facility available at your departure station, you will be able to buy your ticket aboard the train.

Ticket validity

One-way tickets are valid one day for a distance up to 200 km and 2 days for a distance of 201 or more.

Return tickets are valid one day for a distance up to 100 km and 15 days for a distance of 101 km or more.

Monthly passes and school season tickets are also valid on the first day of the following month; Saturday does not count as a business day.

6-month passes and regular tickets are valid for six months or one year from the date of purchase. School season tickets can be purchased after 20th August and a valid until 30th September of the following year.

  • December 26 - Independence Day

Daily trains running during school break

Train services not operating during school holidays are inicated in the timetable.

School holidays:

New Year holidays 26th - 30 December 2011

Winter holidays: 20th February - 24th February 2012

May Day Holiday: 27th April - 2nd May 2012

Summer holidays: 25th June – 31st August 2012

Autumn holidays: 29th October - 2nd November 2012

Timetable valid from 11th December 2011 to 8th December 2012.

Travel interruption

You may interrup your journey once in either direction and you must validate your ticket as soon as you exit the train at the station where your journey has ended . An interrupted journey does not extend the validty of a ticket. At the station where your journey ends you may ask for a refund for a fully valid or partially used ticket.

Personal luggage

Personal lugagge is transported free of charge. Carriage of any dangerous goods on passenger trains is strictly prohibited. Luggage can be stored at stations that provide secure left-luggage facilities for a maximum of 30 days.

Destination and carriage number signboards

Destination sign board (outside the train and inside) tells you the route you can travel, without having to change trains. Individual carriages may have a different route to that of the train.

Destination signboard (outside of the train and inside) helps you find the carriage where you have booked your seat, berth or bed.

First-class carriage

A yellow stripe above the carriage windows indicates first class carriages.

Passenger insurance

All passengers are insured in case of accident caused by the fault of the railway company.
