Group travel

Travelling in a group is more fun and it is cheaper too. A group of 6 or more people is entitled to a 20 percent discount. Groups of children receive a 50 percent discount.

Discount

30 percent discount for 1st or 2nd class carriage on all trains, except for ICS trains. For groups of at least 15 people travelling on regular trains, one member of the group travels for free; for larger groups, one in every 30 people travels for free.

Validity

The discount is valid for of the purchase of 1st or 2nd class carriage on all trains, except for ICS trains.

For travel on ICS trains, groups of young people may take advantage of the standard adult group fare. Discounts are not valid on Fridays, nor on the day preceding a public holiday. On these days, standard group fare discounts may be used.

To qualify for group travel, a group of at least 6 children under 12 years old must be accompanied by a guardian, teacher or mentor. The discount applies to one-way or return journeys and must be supported by the K-16 as confirmation of entitlement to discounted group travel of young people and children.
