Combined transport

Slovenian railways can offer you comprehensive logistical services. The transport runs on railway lines with our wagons or wagons of our costumers and from the railway tracks on to the final destination. At he same time we take care of all customs procedures at our container terminal.

Our comprehensive service is based on competitive prices for the whole transport way, transport planning, advising on safety and the optimal way of loading the wagons and, of course, on reliable and efficient transport of your goods.



Slovenian railways manage the Container terminal Ljubljana and container terminals - tranfer stations in Celje and Maribor.

Range of services

Accompanied combined transport
The road vehicle is not transported by road, it is transported by train. On the so-called ROLA train the driver of the road vehicle travels along with the vehicle in a comfortable passenger wagon. Trains can convey road vehicles up to 2,5 metre or 2,6 metres wide and up to 4 metres high, on special low-floor wagons. The trucks are (un)loaded by a special portable loading platform at the head of the train.

Unaccompanied combined transport
The transport unit (semi-trailers, swap bodies or containers) is conveyed by rail, inner water way or by sea between combined terminals. Distribution to and from the container terminals takes place by road vehicles. Containers are suitable for transporting many kinds of goods. When switching transport modes, the goods do not need to be unloaded and loaded separately, since the whole container is moved quickly and efficiently.

Slovenian railways do not have their own containers. Dimensions of big containers are listed here.
