Transport Corridors

In response to the rise in political and economic co-operation between Western European countries and those of Central and Eastern Europe after 1990, the need emerged to design a trans-European transport network including all types of transport (road, railway, water and air transport) and to join them across Europe by 2010. In railway transport, the network is composed of ten trans-European corridors.

5th corridor:

  • Venice – Trieste/Koper – Ljubljana – Maribor – Slovenia/Hungary state border – Budapest – Hungary/the Ukraine state border – Uzgorod – Lvov – Kiev

10th corridor:

  • Salzburg - Villach – Jesenice - Ljubljana - Zidani Most - Dobova - Zagreb - Belgrade - Niš - Skopje - Thessalonica, with the Graz - Maribor – Zidani most branch line.
